"You've become so damaged that when someone tries to give you what you deserved, you have no fucking idea how to respond" he snapped.
I flinch. My heart wrenched at the truth that lied behind it as unshed tears began to sting my eyes. Because that's when realisation hit me.
Everything is true. But I refuse to believe it.

Natalie McKnight's life might seem perfect at first glance. With amazing friends, excellent grades, a bright future, and a happy, outgoing personality to go with it. But little do you know that behind those curtains of brown locks, lies a broken girl who's life consist of the dying and the dead, the fallen and falling, but most importantly, a girl who's desperately fighting to break free of the demons inside.

After all, when you start to really look at someone, you begin to notice the painted mask on their faces chipping away.

This story is my happy place; I do not plan on ever finishing it. It will go on and on like a soapie. Might break it up into volumes later. "Grab a bunch of broken misfits, chuck them in a tribe, add some glitter and loads of weird-as garbage, voila, you've got yourself a fairy tale... kinda... just... you know... minus the fairies..." Paisley Davenport ♫ When Willow Mayfair's life falls apart, her mother brings her to Briar Cove, the small coastal town where she grew up. Living with Rebecca's childhood friend, a new world filled with love, excitement, and friendship opens up for both of them. For everybody who also dreams of a fairy tale and won't care if the "knights" were a little dirty. Genre: Slice of Life/Romance/Humour This is a slow-burn journey through love and life, filled with an array of beloved characters, their sad moments, happy moments and a multitude of bat-sh#t crazy moments. P.S.: This is not a fairy tale... Thank you: Micaela, for helping the characters take on a life of their own and encouraging me to keep on writing. Phillo, for not minding reading girly stories... if it's to help your mom. Jeandré, your weird-as sense of humour and quirky feedback inspires me and keeps me going. ♫ This is a work of fiction. Any names or characters, businesses or places, events or incidents are fictitious. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. tw's: mentions of emotional and physical child abuse, drugs, alcohol "You'd love me even if the star doesn't shine?" "Even then, Nova. Even then." This is a reverse grumpy x sunshine, childhood ex best friends college hockey romance. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Maeve Nova Leigh-Foster. She's the girl I've known since I was five years old. The only thing I knew that was right at such a young age. But when we're forced apart and reunited over seven years later, nothing's the same. She hates me as much as I love her. She can't even look at me when all I can do is stare. She doesn't even breathe in my direction when all I want is her. But do I take the hints that she doesn't want me around? No. I plan on earning her back even if it opens things from our past that leaves us both even more heartbroken than the start.
