In my English class this year in year 9, we were meant to write a short story (1200-1500) words about a crime, written in the same form crime stories are usually written in. Personally, I had very few experiences with creative writing, which meant that i did not feel totally comfortable or easy writing this one, but i gave it by best shot.

To Warm Frozen Fingers // A Short Story Collection
I like to write. As you may be able to tell. I haven't been very good at writing lately. As you may also have been able to tell. That's why I've decided to write a short story collection. The stories won't interlink, some may vary wildly and you might even wonder if they were written by the same person (the answer is yes). Overall, I'm aiming to write 23 stories, which was one per day for 23 days but I failed at that (*seethes* college work...) so now I'm just aiming to finish it before winter is over! The stories won't be very long - I'm only allowed to write for 10 minutes per story, just to get me going again (and literally warm my fingers, I get really really cold fingers for some reason) and the most I've ever written in that time is around 500 words. "Please," I whisper, my voice trembling as tears prick the corners of my eyes. "Please don't hurt me." The words barely escape my throat, fragile and desperate. He studies me for a moment, tilting his head slightly, almost as if he's amused by my plea. Then he scoffs, the sound sharp and mocking. "Why would I want to do that?" he murmurs, his voice smooth but carrying a dark undertone that chills me. He takes a step forward, and instinctively, I step back. "I've just found you..." He pauses, his gaze dragging over my face like a predator sizing up its prey. "And now you're mine." Aurora Evans leads a life of simplicity. Eat, work, sleep-her unchanging regimen is her sanctuary, and she has no intention of altering it. But what unfolds when a shadowy figure, lurking beyond her windows, takes an insidious interest in her? One glance at her in a café ensnares him, rendering him captivated, his singular ambition becoming clear: to claim her as his own. Aurora's attempts to escape his shadowy games are futile, especially in the cloak of night when he emerges, weaving his spell under the cover of darkness. He teases, entices, and pushes her perilously close to her breaking point. Her resolve is to distance herself as much as possible. Yet, fate has a cruel sense of irony. The unsolved love crime.
These short stories will be of mine and my friend's characters that we made to cosplay the videos are on YouTube. By day, the 2 main characters were the city's most celebrated detectives, unraveling the darkest mysteries with unnerving precision. By night, they were something else entirely-killers, bound by a pact forged years ago when the lines between justice and vengeance blurred beyond recognition. This is also contained GAY lots and lots of gay (LESBIANS!!!! YAYAYA) If you don't like it you can just leave thenk you!! *** OPEN NOVELLA CONTEST 2021 - HONORABLE MENTION *** The year is 1907, and Amalthea Huntley, Countess of Claremont, is bored. Recently widowed at a young age, she finds very little to entertain her in Edwardian London, until an unusual turn of events at a society party plants the seed of an idea. Lady detective? Why not? It would only be a hobby after all. Lending her considerable powers of observation to some of her closer acquaintances to help resolve their more sensitive issues. After all, what could be so difficult? An instance of minor household theft here, a brief indiscretion there. And it would serve to pass the time. Yes, she resolved. With some careful thought, she was sure she could pull it off, and it would certainly liven things up. Little did Amalthea know that she had bitten off far more than she could chew, when she suddenly finds herself embroiled in a dangerous murder investigation, her only ally being an attractive but rather disagreeable private investigator with a secretive past and a strong dislike for opinionated women.
