Escape Velocity

Kai longed for something beyond the arid sands of Vis's largely desert surface, far from the squat, pale buildings that made up its meagre capital. He longed for the stars, spent every spare moment studying them, watching them, and reaching for them with all that he had. But without a ship it couldn't be done. Alone he would never escape Vis's gravity.

Written for a creative writing assignment in English but I thought I'd post it cause I had fun writing it and am now very attached to the characters. I'd (maybe) like to continue it so hmu if you'd be interested.
