What if the tale of the Little Mermaid was not what you thought?
What if the "Little" Mermaid was not sweet and innocent?
18 year old Layla is the youngest in her family. Yes she has beautiful long dark hair and eyes that are as blue as the ocean, but she is not sweet and innocent, not like you may think.
Layla has always been jealous of her six sisters, always being able to go up to the surface when she couldn't and when the day finally came to go up to the surface, there is a man that she is fascinated by.
She decides to go what everyone in the sea calls the "sea witch". But what if she wasn't a sea witch at all? What if she was just a kind witch that offered people help when they needed it the most?
She offers Layla a deal that she cannot refuse, to be human, to make the man she saw to fall in love with her, but when she realises Layla's plans she realises that Layla didn't want to fall in love with the man. She wanted to make the prince fall for her using a potion and then when the time came, kill him.
So when she finally ruled the kingdom of the sea, she could be a mermaid once more, and rule as the Queen, the one and only Queen.

But what if I told you the seawitch was actually the mermaid princess' best friend and didn't want her to go to the land at all and instead was worried about her so much. What if I told you, the human prince pretended to not recognize her because he wanted to marry the neighboring kingdom's princess? What if I told you the seawitch was only called a seawitch because their kind could perform magic and spells, but merfolk feared them for superstitious reasons? "Well, what do we have 'ere?" A hoarse voice stated above me, making my eyes glaze upward in the direction of the culprit, only to freeze at the icy, crystallized irises of the owner. There, above me, was the man I saved, looking insanely at me with crazed eyes and a mocking tone. His hair was stuck on his forehead and the smudged eyeliner created a trace of dark lining on his face, making him look hauntingly. The man gazed at my form in amazement and wonder before they captured mine again, sending an icy cold sensation coursing through my vein, making me shiver. He was frightening and breathtaking at the same time. "A mermaid, aye?" he questioned as his gaze trailed down the length of my body. Grabbing my arms with one hand, he caressed my face gently, his thumb grazing my parted lips before they went below my hair twirling a single piece. I struggled from underneath him when he let the hair graze my breast underneath my blackened hair. Tension between mermaids and humans had always been high, especially after the queen of the mermaids had been killed by humans, regardless that it was an accident. So many years later when Princess Muriel becomes curious about humans, she keeps it to herself. Muriel lives in a castle with her father, sisters, and best friend, Percy. Some of her sisters blame her for their mother's death so Muriel avoids them when at all possible. She gains an interest in humans and trails after their ships. For humans, mermaids are bad luck so she knows that they won't attempt to harm her. The first time Prince Philip steps foot on a fishing boat he witnesses the crew catch a mermaid. Although terrified, he moves forward to help untangle her as no one else is moving. He prays that she'll forgive him. Worry forms when she takes a lock of his hair. Was that a way of marking him? Regardless, he doesn't fight, not wanting to make it worse. Worry increases when she's spotted again. Muriel begins to develop a crush on Prince Philip after he frees her from the net. When her sister's displeasure with her grows worse, Muriel seeks to avoid it. In a desperate attempt to do so she finds herself cave of the sea witch Minerva. Philip's kindness remains prominent in her mind when Minerva offers her a choice to be a human. Hesitantly she agrees, unaware of how different the human world from hers. Philip's bodyguard begins to catch on that Muriel is different and Percy and the king quickly become desperate to find her. My own version of "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen.
