"I ruined YOU?" He scoffed. "I DIDN'T BREAK YOUR HEART! I DIDN'T OVERREACT ABOUT A MISTAKE!"
"That mistake? It almost cost me my life." My tone was cold and icy.
"Well babe, I guess we're even." His tone matched my own- each of us using sharp tongues to hurt each other.
We stood there, not breaking eye contact. He broke the silence.
