I am choosing Catching Fire as inspiration for my fanfic. I picked Catching Fire because Suzanne Collins does a fantastic job on touching race issues in America through her novel. I thought it would be interesting to do something of the same nature in my fanfic. I chose to use a little bit of African American History to illustrate police brutality in Panem. I am strongly against police brutality and I have been in many marches to put an end to it. So when a few of my friends and I discussed the scene where the old man from district 11 is shot in the head and how it relates to police brutality in America, I instantly got the idea for the fanfic. I thought it would be interesting if I used a teenage boy as the narrator for this story. He can easily convey the horrors of being attacked by the police-like force of Panem, the Peacekeepers. So I hope you like it and enjoy "Diary of a District 11 Resident".

[Rated mature due to violence, death, and blood.] This is a "what if" take on the ending of Mockingjay, written as a fanfiction, if something else had happened at the end. Please note that this is in no way officially connected to the original trilogy by Suzanne Collins. [Mockingjay spoilers ahead, read at your own risk] Summary: 13-year-old Clio Snow finds her life falling apart when her grandfather, President Coriolanus Snow, is killed by Katniss Everdeen after the rebellion of the districts against the Capitol. She is forced into an arena where each child must fight for their life as revenge for the years of suffering in the districts. The children are turned against one another, and Clio must choose between her life and the evil of taking another's, all while fighting to stay true to herself. Twenty-four tributes. One survivor. One final Games. "At some point, you have to stop running and turn around and face whoever wants you dead. The hard thing is finding the courage to do it."--Katniss Everdeen (Catching Fire, chapter 8)
