This world is not what it seems. At the edge of the realm of mortals lies the Border between Life and Death. The closer your soul is to the Border, the more you can experience of the mysterious magic that that eternal barrier radiates. Vamps, demons, Shifters, and Fae all intermingle with psychic humans in the places on Earth where the Border is thin. Protecting the delicate balance of magic is the Guardians who have sworn to protect the sanctity of the Border at all cost. All who endanger the Realm of Mortals are locked in the Dark, the furthest reach of Death, for all eternity.

Yet there is a threat to the Guardians in the Dreyna, a group of powerful psychics who can penetrate the Dark and free the trapped spirits within. The Guardians have determined the Dreyna to be too dangerous to live and have committed to exterminate them all and banish their souls to everlasting torment. The Guardians are also fighting a growing rebel coalition of disenfranchised magic users determined to open the Borders. Yet all is not what it seems.

It's bad enough she's trapped with no way home in such a dangerous place, but when she comes across signs of a monster lurking somewhere on this uncharted isle, she comes to find that the worst of her nightmares have only just begun. because the thing that's been stalking her from the shadows as fangs and scales just like the creatures she fears the most, with intentions of keeping her trapped with it on the isle.
