The burnt body clambered out of the burning remains of a broken car. The sound of sand being slid across gravel interrupted the sirens blaring in the distance. The form wiggled to stand and moved stealth like as if it had eyes. The skin began to fall off like dead leaves and new skin replaced it. The shoulders twitched in anticipation of finding its severed head. Quickly staggering through the muddy leaves across the boardwalk it shuffled itself into the forest out of view of the police approaching.

A thump echoed throughout the woods that only the heart of the monstrosity could recognize. The head called to the body to find it. The muscles reattached themselves to the sinews of the foot and ankle covering the bone to the toes. The chest began to slowly expand as veins grew around the base of the spine and pulsated around the rib cage and torso. The muscles began to form over each damaged part of the body and reconstruct itself into a female. The skin that had been damaged puckered pink and glistened under the dim light scattered through the branches to the floor. The form stopped as the heart pulsated faster and the thrumming grew intense. The form stood over the crushed head below the base of a great cedar tree. Realizing that there was no hope for recovery the body twitched animatedly and slung itself down to the ground as the spine went straight and like a spider's web, bone began to form as veins aligned themselves in the shape of the previous face. The white of the eyes rolled forward as the jaw bone clicked into place. The blackened dot like pupil began to grow until it filled the edges of on chocolate iris and the other aquamarine. The face twitched as the nose elongated in a sharp tip.

Finally formed, the short cotton colored haired female turned and saw her fallen friend watching her curiously.

"Come out, come out, wherever you are..." Calliope's breath shuddered as she pressed trembling fingers against her wound, trying to stifle the slow, relentless flow of blood. The dark crimson smeared her deep brown skin, glistening in the faint moonlight filtering through the trees. She bit her lip hard enough to draw blood, forcing herself not to cry out, even as the pain in her arm surged with each heartbeat. Her body was coiled in the shadows, hidden among the thick underbrush. The scent of damp earth filled her lungs as she crouched lower, her deep brown eyes flicking toward the faint beam of light where he stalked her. The trail of her blood, leading back to her, was a cruel betrayal-he'd see it soon enough. In the distance, his boots crunched on the gravel path, slow and deliberate, the sound crawling through the silence. His shotgun dragged behind him, the barrel scraping along the stones with a sharp, unsettling screech. His tan skin glowed under the night sky, brown hair falling messily over his forehead, casting shadows over his deep-set brown eyes, eyes that no longer held the warmth she once knew. "Callie, darling..." His voice rang out, taunting. It was a mockery of affection, twisted and sharp. "Come on out. You know you can't hide forever." He scanned the woods, his gaze erratic, desperate. His hands tightened around the shotgun, knuckles white as his eyes flared with hunger, the hunt fueling his madness. The stillness was thick, suffocating, but Calliope could feel the tremor in his voice, the impatience-he was unraveling. She swallowed hard, trying to quiet her heavy breathing, her heart hammering in her chest as he stepped closer, the smell of blood growing stronger around her. If he found her, there would be no telling what he would do. ------------- In which a predator hunts prey.

However, I was a kid when I wrote this so take it with a grain of salt. *** Like a deer in head lights, I freeze and watch as the car comes towards me expecting to get hit. But to my surprise, the car swerves to the side slightly next to me and comes to a stop. I take a deep breath I didn't know I was holding at the driver's side door swings open and a very pissed off Axel steps out. "Thank god," I mumble and place my hands on my knees to catch my breath. "Blaze?" He says and I hate it. I hate how he says my name as if it's his. Like he knows it's the only thing I want to hear, him calling out to me, looking at me, focused to me. It's the first time in my life I wanted someone's attention so badly I didn't care how I got it. And that was too dangerous for me to hold onto. "Are you insane or some shit? I could have killed you!" He says and starts to walk towards me. I take a big breath and step back away from him, "s-stop! Axel," I stutter still panting. It's then he notices the blood on my hands and shirt. "Is that blood?" He asks staring at my shirt and I take another step back. "Stop, stay b-back," I try to say confidently but I can't even breath right. Realizing he won't listen I start to turn around planning to make a break for it. "Don't run from me Blaze it won't go well," he growls reading my thoughts causing me to freeze in my spot. "Do not ever think you can get away from me."

My dream continued the one I'd been having for the past couple of nights. I ran, gasping for breath, through the familiar woods from a dark figure behind me. The faster I tried to run, the slower I seemed to go, until it was like I was running in place. I knew I needed to run. I was terrified of what the figure would do when he caught me. "Mara Leigh," a deep, smooth voice called. It was almost hypnotic. That was new. The figure had never spoke before now. I ran as fast as I could go, eyes searching the forest floor for a big stick or something that I could use to defend myself. "Mara Leigh!" the voice came again, this time more insistent. The forest slowly started to fade and I started to awake to someone shaking my shoulders. "Beau?" I mumbled, turning my head to the side. What's Beau doing in my room this time of night? Why is he shaking me? "Do not call me that name." My eyes flew open as I jumped at the voice from my dream. A face was right in front of mine, and just like the voice, it wasn't Beau. Before I could form a scream, a hand covered my mouth. I tried to bite it but I couldn't get my mouth to open. He's too strong. I started to use my whole body to try to get away, but he crawled on top of me, holding me down. I pulled the hidden knife out from under my pillow and slashed as hard as I could at him, but he just grabbed my wrist and squeezed it until the pain made me drop the knife. Then he grabbed both my hands in one of his and held them over my head. He held me down while I struggled. I grunted and moved and tried to kick and scream, but I only wore myself out. Exhausted, I stopped thrashing and let the tears flow freely down my cheeks. I didn't know what to do, so I just tried to prepare myself for whatever was coming.

She collapses down in front of me and runs her hands along my shoulders and down my arms. I close my eyes as she lifts my shirt over my head. "I can hear your heart racing," she whispers. I roll my head back as her lips press into my throat. I'm becoming so hot that it feels like I'm in transition. I run my hands beneath her shirt and up her back, pushing her closer into my throat. "Any requests?" she says. "Be gentle with me." "Really?" I smile before I grip the ends of her shirt and I tear it in half, all the way up her spine and all the way down the middle of her torso. It makes her gasp. "No," I say. ------------ Since meeting her mysterious saviour deep in the woods, ten things started to become clear. 1) Irresistible British men didn't just exist across the world. 2) Survival was a lot more complicated than just looking for water. 3) They were bonded together in a way that didn't make sense. 4) Her life, which was filled with so much human suffering, finally had some faint glimmer of hope. 5) She should have known that humans don't sleep walk every damn night. 6) The man ate animals raw and kept a mysterious, giant wolf as a pet. 7) Hunters will never stop looking for her. 8) She doesn't care. 9) Their desires burn for each other and it's out of their control. 10) Werewolves are real.
