Yami Atem, a once cruel and heartless king, was obsessed with power and therefore, only cared for himself. However, because of his cold heart and selfish ways, he paid the ultimate price: Becoming a hideous dragon beast. Now Yami has one year to make things right by falling in love with another, who will return those same affections, otherwise he will remain with the doomed fate of staying a dragon beast forever. However, due to his ghastly form, he has locked himself away in his castle, abandoning the idea that he could break this curse, for who could ever love a beast such as he? Yugi Motou is a young man who only wishes for someone to understand what it's like to be an outcast, to be misunderstood by the world all because you're different in some way. It may seem like a petty thing I ask for, but to Yugi, it would mean the world to have someone who knows just what it's like to feel unwanted all because you're different. However, while going to run an errand for his grandfather, Yugi accidently stumbles upon a castle with a shining blue rose to light his path, meeting the infamous Yami Atem.
