Lux Castor is an Incorrect, she was not meant to be created the way she was, with black hair, green eyes, and a stubborn streak as well as a quiet one. The Facilitators hate the Incorrect and insist they are a fault in the program, that they don't have the capacity to feel and really be human, like monsters. Lux grows up to be confirmed at the age of fourteen that she wasn't what her parents ordered and is sent to the Edge, of their country Kalom, where the Fecilitators send all the Incorrects to their deaths...or so they think.
