Swept Away draws from Civil War records, from accounts of life in the times, and from a true love story. It brings to life the story of Jenny, a girl turning 18 as the war begins. It finds her caught up in the love of a man for whom she is only his "best friend."
When Daniel leaves to fight for the South, Jenny's small town and her father's farm are soon occupied by hated Yankee soldiers. One of them, a Union captain, has the audacity to smile at her. 
As the war intensifies, Jenny will find courage to do things she never thought she would do, and she will see things she never thought she would see.

Rose thinks she can beat them, so Rose challenges her and tells her that she can beat her, so they make a deal, but the one think Rose didn't think of was that she stopped ridding because of her mom's accident and that means she has to get back on a horse. At first she doesn't think she can until a beautiful grayish white mustang comes to her dad's farm, who Rose names later as Stardust. Rose finally realizes that she can do this alone, she's going to need help from her father to help her get back on and also have help from the new cute boy, Austin who's helping for his community service. At first he doesn't want to be there, but eventually finds a reason to stay. Rose has had a good life up until the day of the accident, but now she's got to face loss, and heartbreak, but she's got to learn to get back in the race. This story holds romance, family, trust, understanding the past, and conquering your fears. *Read to find out more, I know it may sound boring from the description, but it's really not. I hope you try to read it and see that it's really good, and touching sorta. So just try to love it.*

I based some of facts in the story on writings left behind by my family that lived here in Indiana in the 1860s. My ancestors were Quaker and they were abolitionists in Indiana. We still have their homes used in the underground railroad in our family. My other side was endangered servants from Ireland and my great-great-grandfather was, unfortunately, one of the soldiers that came to Indiana while serving under John Hunt Morgan.
