Dan Howell never had a best friend or a friend in general. Then, Phil Lester comes along. Dan doesn't want to tell Phil about his bipolar disorder. He feels like Phil would be creeped out and leave him. I mean that's what everyone else did. But it's something about Phil that makes him feel so safe. Phil Lester didn't have a best friend. He had friends, but they all seemed to have better friends and it really sucked. Then he finds Dan Howell in the library reading "City of bones." As a major fanboy he starts up a conversation about the book. He makes his first ever real friend. He decides not to tell him about him having P.T.S.D. He didn't tell anyone about it, he knew they'd freak out. But, it's something about Dan that makes him feel so safe.
