In a world where your life is defined by your eye color, those with blue, grey, green, and especially red eyes are on the bottom of the social heap. Sera was born with red eyes that gave her the power to create fire and control it, to a point. To a very limited point.
She's spent her whole life locked up in a room for fear that the 'normal' people with brown eyes would do something worse than calling her names. Now, she's going to high school. If she can manage to not be ashamed of who she is, not get in fights, not simply agree to everything someone asks of her, be polite, make friends, and have fun, she might just survive.
