It is a new age where human experimentation has started running rampant. The government blatantly turns away as kids and adults alike are taken from their homes and put through horrific tests, all for the sake of science. But Kaira never thought she would be one of them. She never thought that she would lose everything to those people.

In just one fateful night, Kaira finds herself having to fight to survive as she is taken as the next subject. She is determined to not give up no matter what and never give in to those who would do anything to get what they want.

However, sometimes things change. And when Kaira meets Zane, that is exactly what happens.

Before the war, Vivian Becker was defined by the mundane beauty of her life: the laughter shared with friends over weekend drinks, the diligent hours spent poring over textbooks, the comforting predictability of a life lived strictly "by the book." Her first year of university should have been a rite of passage, but instead, it became a crucible that utterly consumed her. The unfolding crisis stripped her bare, tearing away her family, her home, and every last shred of the innocent world she knew. Lieutenant Abel Palmer, on the other hand, had never known such normalcy. His reality was one of perpetual twilight, leading clandestine operations against the monstrous 'echoes' of the war - the grotesque, unknown creatures born from twisted science. A hardened veteran, he was accustomed to dealing with threats, not feeling. Yet, his detached professionalism shattered when his new squad member arrived. She was small, yes, but her spirit was an inferno. Vivian Becker, the girl who lost everything, was finally the one who could challenge the unshakable Lieutenant Palmer. He'd met his match. Now, a world-ending mission looms, demanding their absolute focus. But the burgeoning, undeniable feelings between Abel and Vivian threaten to complicate everything. As their professional boundaries blur, a deeper question emerges: In their desperate pursuit to save humanity, will their growing bond be a strength? Or will their shared, burning desire for revenge consume them, forcing them to choose between global salvation and personal retribution?

A dystopian young adult novel involving romance, secret experiments on human subjects, and a group of teenagers' will to survive. Reader Comments: "I'm gonna gush about your book real quick...all the technology has a purpose and is beautifully explained so I can picture it in my mind...the whole concept of the book is completely original...*moment of silence for your beautiful arch of character development* everything your characters do is strictly them but they develop enough to show more about themselves without you straight up telling the reader about them" -Vairl9023 "Ahh!!! This is so good!! I will be anxiously awaiting the next Chapter!!" -CrystalBagot "Brilliant...ohh, this is very catchy, good work" -IndeeMaynard "I love this so far" -BrianneMorris "You've done a great job at creating a mysterious mood" -poisonedpen *** All Evita Creedy, 17, wants is to finish her degree and be accepted for a prestigious job with the city's Department of Energy. *wattys 2018 shortlist* *writer's awards sci-fi winner* It all started with an accident. Through vast consolidation begets a single empire bordering on the mere idea of war with an enemy threatening to destroy its entire existence, starting from the inside. Many call it tyranny, others, vengeful menace, but it's taking them down. One by one. A series of events follow, including a spy, a plan destined to fail and a desperate offer that puts everything on the line. She wasn't what they were hoping for. But they take what they can get. Once rejected by the place they called home, five estranged teens jump at the opportunity for an escape. Thrust into an unknown underwater society at random, it's a gamble for life and death, win or lose. Fast forward to friendship, rivalry, loyalty, borderline sorcery, and a second home that'll change their lives as they know it. But as the days grow by, and the game of cat and mouse breaks its final straw, blending in a world not meant for them is not as easy as it seems. Especially when you try to save a colony whilst saving yourself. *this story is/will be rewriting.
