Katarina Smith, never expected to go on a random trip to a remote island after high school. She also didn't know that, the same trip was going to change her life forever.  

Kat signed up to help the islanders of Lencai Island become up to date with modern technology, and to help them learn how to write. On the 2nd day of her being there she loved the culture of the native villagers, but she still hasn't met the head doyen of Lencai Island yet, or fully accepted the way they had to pee in the bushes.
