In the summer of 1992, life takes a toll on thirteen-year-old,"Duck" Reyonlds. Duck is a regular good kid at heart,but is street smart at the same time. To look past all the drama, Duck takes comfort in her best friends, Tre, Zila, Brooklynne, Kayanna, and Tayanna, especially Tre. Duck and Tre have been knowing each other since they were three and have a real special bond that a lot of girls at South Bay Middle School envy. But the two best friends good times don't last too long when Duck and Tre get into an argument about their sibilings. So the two best friends go five years without seeing or speaking to each other until one night they run into each other in their old neighborhood of Compton. Ever since that night Duck couldn't stop thinking about Tre and the two eventually start to spark old flames , but will this just be a one time thing or will Duck actually fall in love with Tre.
