"S-sorry?" I choked out, rapidly paling. Its amazing how three words can affect someone so badly. He's GOT to be kidding me. Its just... impossible. I refuse to believe it. He didn't say that. He couldn't have. He wouldn't. "We are partners," he repeated in his sarcastically slow voice. He did. ------------------------------------- Crissane's plan for senior year: 1. Study 2. Avoid the male population at all costs 3. Get that scholarship While everybody saw her as the friendless freak, nobody knew her passion. Cooking. When she walked through the doors of Pristine High for her final year, she expected it to be full of cooking and avoiding people, like always. Besides, she needed to focus on getting that scholarship that she'd been dreaming of for years. Problem. She ended up being paired up with someone. Not too big of a deal, until she learns HE'S clueless in the kitchen. If he could tell apart kitchen utensils, she did not know. Who knew that she'd been brewing herself a pot of disaster? If only she'd known that there was more to that quiet kid that nobody knew, she could've avoided all that drama that year and continued her life as a loser. She wouldn't let this stop her. So much for sticking to the plan. She HAD to get the scholarship. Besides... things change for the better, right?

Camilla was kind to everyone she met, no matter how she truly felt about them. She worked two jobs to cover her tuition and barely had time to breathe, let alone waste energy hating anyone. But Malachi was the exception. He got under her skin like no one else. No matter how hard she tried to ignore him, there he was smirking, teasing, and driving her absolutely insane. Malachi was the devil in a Greek gods body. Arrogant. Cocky. Spoiled. He had rich boy energy down to an art. And yet, somehow, everyone adored him. He was as outgoing as he was mysterious, as charming as he was insufferable. Malachi didn't just walk into a room, he owned it. With his flashy cars, endless parties, and a laugh that made girls swarm like bees to honey. Everyone loved him. Everyone except Camilla. She saw straight through the perfect smile and the piles of daddy's money to the selfish, smug person underneath the one no one else seemed to notice. Camilla had bigger problems than Malachi. With exams coming up and two jobs disappearing within a week one from the death of her retail boss the other because the bookstore was relocating an hour away she was barely hanging on. She had a little money left from her grandmother's college fund but not enough to keep her afloat for long. So in between studying and classes she searched desperately for work. Just when she was ready to give up her best friend Tabitha called a family friend needed a part-time babysitter for their five-year-old daughter. It wasn't glamorous but Camilla jumped at the chance. The next day, she met the parents. They were kind, professional, and clearly exhausted which gave her hope. One successful meet-and-greet later, they shook her hand and offered her the job. Camilla was smiling, relief rushing through her. Until the front door opened. They mentioned having a son about her age Camilla turned to greet him with a polite smile. Then froze her smile fell her heart dropped. No fucking way. Their son was Malachi!?
