Demetrius the vampire prince ran away from home to find his mate, Hayley, because she's in danger in the near future. He's also running from guards from his home that are after him. He and Hayley meet when he shows up at her high school, and in English class they are asked to do a research paper together on whether vampires are real or not. She finds out that he's a vampire when they are talking and he tells her how to identify a vampire which is ice cold skin, dilated eyes, and a lapis lazuli ring that he"makes"as he told her.
