Scarlett Blake is an ex-marine with a genius mind and a bad attitude. She's angry at the world-even though a "zombie" pandemic swept the globe and did a decent job of decimating humanity about two years ago. Now she's making her way through that world, and, along the way, she'll rediscover what it's like to experience basic human interactions and the fine line between being lonely and being alone. Aaron van Shackle is an army man who always manages to go with the flow but can't seem to remember why he got dropped off in what feels like post-apocalyptic Texas. He'll have to find a way to break through Scarlett's hardened shell and prove that the holes he creates are the type that she should choose to keep. Maybe. It also wouldn't hurt to figure out what happened to a society that once flourished. Along with friends old and new and a solid set of swords, the pair will have to figure out how to survive in a world that's been changed forever, and, if not bring some semblance of the world back, lay the foundations for a new one.
