After the war Hermione stayed in a room in The Leaky Cauldron until Hogwarts reopened so she can complete her seventh year. She tried to go to her parents and give them their memories back of her, but they yelled at her, calling her crazy. She decided not to go to Harry and Ron. After the war Ron had told her he never really meant anything that happened between them and he just wanted to be friends, leaving her completely devestated and lonely because as close as her and Harry are, he's closer to Ron. So she was completely alone.
After the war Draco isolated himself, the Voldemort supporters despised him and the other Hogwarts students wouldn't believe he had changed. He stayed in the Malfoy Manor alone, his parents both in Azkaban. About two weeks before school started again he decides to check into The Leaky Couldran, so he can get his stuff for school and maybe reunite with a few people and make some friends, only to find Hermione Granger in the room next door.

The Wizarding War had been won and professor McGonagall had filled the position of Headmistress of Hogwarts. Draco's father, Lucius Malfoy, had been send to Azkaban for all the things he had done and both Narcissa and Draco were lucky enough not to go with him, they got a second chance, under strict rules, from the Ministry for Magic. At the start of Hogwarts' seventh year, they were supposed to have their start of the school year annual Quidditch Match, which would consist of the four different houses competing against one another, but never took place because of Lord Voldemort interrupting their school year, deciding to come for a young Harry Potter. A few weeks after the battle was won, Draco, Theo and Blaise were in Hogsmeade, when they bumped into Harry and Ron. Insults were thrown by a certain ginger haired boy, not letting Harry get a word in, feeling superior than the 3 Slytherins. Ron had acted on impulse and bet his fiery red-headed sister and a certain curly brown haired girl away. When Hermione finds her self coming back to Hogwarts for a Manditory 8th year, she is put in a place she shouldn't be.
