The only thing unusual about Emerald Green is her strange name, or so she thinks. Because Emerald has only ever had her mother, the lack of other family is unimportant. To her, the absence of her father in her life sparks a bitter feeling within her, and a hidden longing to know him and have him by her side. In a twist of events, Emerald experiences a terrifying encounter with a beast she believed to be no more than a legend. She's left doubting everything she has even known, and is sent spiraling headfirst into a whole new world. She learns that her family history is a lot more complicated than she had originally thought. Not only does she uncover the mystery behind her father, she also discovers that her family might consist of much more than just him. To make it worse, Emerald finds that the creatures that only ever lurked in her nightmares are, in fact, much more than myths.
