-- Scarlett stared at the dingy, torn, decrepit walls of the orphanage as the years passed by slowly. Her hope diminishing as each anniversary passed, showing no signs of change and no future ahead. Now, Scarlett is seventeen and preparing to leave the orphanage and start her life over, ready to push her past to the backburner. Unbeknownst to her, seventeen will bring momentous change - more than she could have imagined - which include a change of scenery and a chance to start over. When she learns that she has been adopted suddenly, her entire life becomes uprooted and a million questions are brought to the forefront. Upon her adoption day, she is greeted by three unfamiliar faces; an older woman and two boys who looked to be around her same age. As Scarlett arrives at the old woman's house, she quickly realizes just how different she is and how different her life had truly been. The giant, old, colonial-styled house reeked of old wealth - something Scarlett had only pictured in her daydreams. Scarlett faces her new journey filled with doubt and uncertainty as she tries to uncover the old woman's past and how she fits into her puzzle, while navigating her own sooner than she expected. Her cold demeanor toward her new house-mates is set to cause a few more bumps in the road, but she is not keen on making friends and only has one goal in her mind; she is determined to finish high school without causing any more trouble and set off for college to be rid of the past events that wreaked havoc on her life. --
