Abigail grew up in her family's manor that resisted in the protected city of Idris. The Shadowhunter home country, a sanctuary hidden from mundanes, given to them by the Angel Raziel. Being the youngest of her other siblings, she was the last one to be married off and carry on the family name. She grew up wanting to explore the world and do something exciting with her life. But that all changes when she gets engaged to Michael Wayland.
The two were polar opposites, having different views and beliefs in the world. She felt his views outrageous, sexist and barbaric, she refuses to accept his offer of marriage. She wants to do nothing but get away from it all and start all over, a chance to be herself in the world; but is that enough?
