I cried in his arms while he rubbed my back. Dried blood was starting to make my hair sticky, but he didn't seem to mind as I rested against his chest. My head was still throbbing and I couldn't help but think what had I ever done to him to deserve this. A strangled sob escaped my lips before I could contain it.
"Shh," Blake hushed. "He'll pay, Lily Pad, he'll pay." His voice shot daggers of silence through the room. I shivered as I pulled myself closer to him, wishing that I'd taken Blake's advise to get as far away from him as possible when I could've.

As a result of the tragic death of her father; Heaven Foster's life has mouldered into a exasperating cycle of moving from one home to another.
