He looked down at me and blinked.

"...What?"

My chest weld up in a breath I refused to let out and tightened my fist. "I'm sorry, did you not understand such a simple statement? I said 'No.' Monsieur."

He kept looking at me as if he didn't believe I would say such a thing. Me: polite, sweet, never talk back Anne said the word No. Was that such a crime? I don't think so. Well, apparently he didn't share the same thoughts since the look of bewilderment was gone and replaced by a glare that could've put me six feet under.
