Star is terminal, she knows that one day she's going to die, and has written a list of things to do before her untimely demise. Since she was first diagnosed shes done all but five things on that list. The last being fall in love. The second to take photos of everything and everyone she sees in her last 6 months. The third is to write a eulogy that shall be given by Adam her best non cancer friend at her funeral. The forth is to go coffin shopping her idea being that she should spend all eternity in a coffin and clothes she chose. Finally she wants to conform to every possible stereotype imaginable and go to disney land. Adam isn't terminal but watching his best friend slowly die isn't easy. So he copied her idea and wrote a list of things to do for star before she dies these acts of kindness range from teaching her to ride a bike when she was 13. Sneaking her out of the hospital during freshman year to go to homecoming and getting her long term crush Chase Holmes to ask her out to a movie when she was depressed that she was the only sophomore girl who hasn't been on a date. His final project involves a camera some grass and a lot of butterflies.

Rose thinks she can beat them, so Rose challenges her and tells her that she can beat her, so they make a deal, but the one think Rose didn't think of was that she stopped ridding because of her mom's accident and that means she has to get back on a horse. At first she doesn't think she can until a beautiful grayish white mustang comes to her dad's farm, who Rose names later as Stardust. Rose finally realizes that she can do this alone, she's going to need help from her father to help her get back on and also have help from the new cute boy, Austin who's helping for his community service. At first he doesn't want to be there, but eventually finds a reason to stay. Rose has had a good life up until the day of the accident, but now she's got to face loss, and heartbreak, but she's got to learn to get back in the race. This story holds romance, family, trust, understanding the past, and conquering your fears. *Read to find out more, I know it may sound boring from the description, but it's really not.
