Taking place in 1945 after the war broke down, Otto Frank receives Anne's diary from family friend, Miep Gies. The Franks lived in an annex for about two years prior to being discovered, arrested and sent to concentration camps. Otto Frank, after deciding to keep Anne's diary, decided to have the diary published under the name, "The Diary of a Young Girl".
