Chelsea is a smart, vivacious teenage girl who is more interested in football and video games than make-up and boys. That is, until she meets new student Niall, who becomes her first crush. The only trouble is, he thinks of her as a mate, and not a girl. Chelsea decides to go girlie in hopes that Niall will see her as a girl, and a potential girlfriend. It's really a funny, smart, charming story, with lots of twist and turns and ultimately, an ending that feels real.

Cassandra Gray is and always will be a nerd. She's the kind of girl that wears superman tees and reads comic books, and has never missed a superhero movie premiere. Of course, she was bullied a lot. At least she had always had her best friend Aidan to watch her back. In eighth grade, Cassie is forced to move to Ohio and leave her best friend behind. She learns that if nobody's there to stick up for her, life is living hell. She stops bringing her comics to school, changes out her glasses for contacts, and does what she can to to fit in. Even worse than school is her stepfather, Steven, who has been abusing her for the past year. When she finally calls the police, Steven is put in jail and Cassie and her mom get as far away from him as possible, which means moving back home to the life she left behind. Cassie comes back in time for senior year and just wants things to go back to the way they were. Instead she discovers a new life better than anything she could have imagined.
