Kazuha Ikeda is a 16 year old High school student who is normal in every single way. But after she has an argument with her father and runs away into a local park, everything seems to change. While she is waiting for the bus that comes by the park, a strange man who she later discovers names Negekki Tusionu, gets stuck in a tree by his fear of dogs and other animals.

After hastily saving the fear stricken Negekki and tells him her story, he kisses her on her forehead and tells her to go to a temple where she can reside. After he kisses her forehead Negekki strangley disappears, having no where else to go Kazuha seeks out the temple that Negekki told her of.

She finds the temple high in the mountains surrounded by greenery. Kazuha enters the temple and is mystified to see two floating servants named Sachio and Hamano, who keep going on about something about a Land God?

After hearing Kazuha's story Sachio and Hamano are determined to have her become the new Land God. But the temple spirit Satomi Hayashi has other thoughts on the matter. After much debate and a long list of broken things, Satomi agree's to make Kazuha the Land God under one condition, that she makes the temple more popular.

Taking on the challenge Kazuha is now a Land God, and is determined with her mission from Satomi and Negekki. After run in's with evil, temple raiders, bratty children, and the peoples prayers, Kazuha discovers that maybe being a Land God is harder than she thinks.
