The wars have ruined us, this much I know. Now two kingdoms rule, one is my fathers kingdom the Fitzwilliam family they call us. The other is the Carrington family who ever since the beginning of the new world order have been the natural enemy of my family, why though you ask? I don't know. My father has never told me, I suppose it's not my place as his daughter to know. Although, as I run through the cold woods as my home is bombed by the enemy as we know I begin to believe I deserve to know the truth... I don't know were my family is, I don't know where I am but as my dress catches the brush below and my legs strike pain from the falls and thorns I've took on making my once snow white dress spotted with red I begin to understand why they are our enemy... My hate turns to fear though as the sound of footsteps run up behind me and there is nothing but a cliff in front of me for my escape......talk about a cliffhanger....

Shaylee had nothing more to lose when she sneaked into a boat and left her homeland Ireland for good. She had burned all the bridges behind her, and her future was more than uncertain. All she had was a name. A name her grandmother told her and might belong to the only family she had left. But would he be willing to take her in? Or were all the stories true and he also did burn all the bridges connecting him with his Danish past. Would Uhtred Ragnarson take in the daughter of his Danish brother and will she be able to build a life in a foreign country? And would this life be better than the one she left behind? Without fear, without pressure but with a loving family, maybe even a family of her own? Inspired by the tv show "The Last Kingdom"
