Karen was trying to make everything go on like before but soon enough she started to experience things she never imagined would happen. With her best friends Gilbert and Thea they'll try to unravel the mysteries behind the abductions. But nothing is going to be easy. Dark forces are at bay. When the trio met the dashing devilish Inigo they begin to doubt what is trust, friendship and faith.

I used his now still chest to push myself up on steady hands, puffing a loose hair out of my face I considered the head, barely attached to the side of the vampire's shoulders. Then I retrieved the short sword at my back, while I swung the sword in a full arc, I expelled a small huff of breath and severed the head of the monster that had stolen Isabelle. The vamp's mass now blocked the front door, so I threw the head out the opening and heard it thump down the stairs. I felt eyes watching me. I scanned my surroundings expecting to witness the mystery vampire from earlier attempt to sneak up on me. Instead, I met the dull brown eyes of a little girl curled up in the corner. "Who are you?" Way too calm for the current situation, her soft voice contrasted in the macabre cabin. There was a good chance she was in shock. "My name is Aisling and I kill the monsters," I said, rising from the squatting position I had assumed to evaluate Isabella's injuries. "How did you know he was a monster?" The sound of raw pain and misplaced admiration in her voice broke my heart. "Oh, honey. They're all monsters." When vengeful Aisling Brooks must pretend to date Master vampire Roderick Keats, he tries his best to rock her views of the supernatural community. That doesn't stop her from trying to kill him though. Immersed in the very world she hates, Aisling must find the person that hired her or forfeit her life and those of her friends. Roderick becomes detached after her assassination attempt, while Aisling is cut off from her friends and help. It seems as if all of Roderick's people are aloof at best and homicidal at worst. As her preconceived ideals crumble beneath her, Aisling finds Roderick isn't the only one being hunted by the mysterious benefactor. While discovering that she might be the worst detective in history Aisling is sure of one thing: part of her will not survive trying to kill Roderick Keats.

Her name was Gabriella Quintanilla. She was a senior in high school during this time. She had the looks, all the boys, the popularity, the clothes, and even the grades. And in no way was she ignorant of any of these things--quite the opposite. She knew that she was above average in most categories of life, and had no problem reminding people repeatedly of that fact. I'm not going to lie---I didn't like her. Not at all. To be completely honest, I threatened to kill her with my bare hands. And the scary thing is, I meant it. I wanted her to die. I imagined dark fantasies of the light fading from her eyes right before my own, her pleading for me to spare her life. And in my fantasies, I wouldn't listen and I didn't care. She had tortured me for five years and I was utterly and simply sick of it all. Sick of her. My animosity towards Gabriella was no secret among my peers. Not many people liked her, so it's not like I stood alone on the concept. However I was the only one who voiced a threat. THE threat. The threat that got me on a suspect list in some cop's notepad. They want to know if I killed her. If they knew the whole story, would they blame me if I did? ©Copyright Timara M. Lewis 2013
