This book follows a girl who is in secondary school and is facing many problems. She is a shy, quiet and lonely girl. Everyone calls her 'Shadow Girl' because she is a nobody.
She continues her dull life until she meets a bright student called Bita. Bita shows her a new life and encourages 'Shadow Girl' to become confident. These two girls grow a bond and become friends. "Shadow Girl's" only loyal friend. Just as she comes out of the shadows, she hears bad news from her friend Bita which makes everything come crashing down.

This is based on a true story about the author herself, Aisha Karim. As a teenager she faced many problems during secondary school. Aisha came across bullies friendship problems and embarrassing crushes. At a young age Aisha was a shy and quiet student that no one really knew, however later on in life she became confident and found her voice.
