For three years, deaf and selectively-mute Svetlana Laguardia has managed to maintain an almost untouchable atmosphere that has kept away every student at Garibaldi Academy. Every student, but one.

At the same time, the new academy director is doing away with the agreement between Svetlana and the former director, threatening to throw her out.
