Veronica has moved every year. Now for fifth grade she has moved to a town called Buchtton in a mansion by the lake. The only way of freedom is by going to the lake, but when a mysterious girl keeps showing up, Veronica's safe haven may be doomed. Who is this girl and how will Veronica react?

Veronica is alone more often than not. Her parents work in the movie business, leaving their daughter at the house. Each year, they move to a different place and each year Veronica hates it.
For her fifth grade year, Veronica moves to Buchtton, a small town in Massachusetts. There she finds a beautiful lake she can escape to after the long days of school. But when a mysterious girl shows up at her safe haven, Veronica no longer feels its comfort.
