So many people ask this question and it is considered the biggest fault of the epic LOTR trilogy. I thought I should use this newfound information for good (unlike the ring) to shut you all up and answer life's biggest pondering. After all, if Tolkien applied so much thought and detail into his work, why wouldn't he address this as well?
