Emma lived in the perfect world. She woke up, went to school, and came home. Everything was amazing! She had plenty of friends and boys chasing after her. She was the typical high school golden girl. She had long brown locks and beautiful blue eyes. She always thought her eyes complimented but she wasn't sure what. Was it her naturally gorgeous hair? Was it her smooth caramel skin? Her little nose? Who knew, all she knew was that she liked herself the way she was. Born and raised in a small and quiet town in Illinois. Nothing really happened here. That's why her sister moved away as soon as she was old enough. Nothing ever goes on. Ever. Until one day Emma's life went spiraling down into a pit of black nothingness. Her life would be ruined forever. Was it too soon to fix it? Or would her soul eat her from the inside out?

Cold Eyes

Her world had never been soft. She'd learned too quickly that people could love you one day and rip the ground out from under you the next. So she built herself out of armor: cool smirks, careless words, the lie that she didn't care. She convinced everyone around her that she was untouchable, that she didn't need anyone to stay. That way, if they left, it wouldn't matter. But the truth was, she longed for the chaos. She trusted it more than stability, because at least chaos was honest. At least when something was toxic, when it was tension-filled and dangerous, you knew exactly where you stood- you knew it could hurt you. What unsettled her more was the idea of something pure, something kind, because that was where betrayal liked to hide. He's cold. She's reckless. And somewhere between jealousy, secrets, and a Halloween Party that changes everything Athena learns that sometimes the scariest thing isn't being hated. It's being wanted. *** Writing for my bestfriend!
