Rowankit lives a lonely existence among his clan. Many blame him for the death of his mother and sister, but he was only a kit-how could any of it be his fault? Growing up estranged from his clanmates, Rowankit has begun to believe that they're right. When he's named an apprentice, Rowanpaw works hard to prove his innocence and to gain his clan's respect.

There's something dark lingering in the forest, and it takes a special interest in Rowanpaw. He's faced with a war brewing inside his heart.
