A strange prophecy etched on a cabin's door, freak accidents no one can explain, creatures lurking in the dead of night, snichets of ancient legends that may or may not be true, people dissapearing and sightings of monsters in the forest-This and more has flooded into the Smokey Mountians of Tennessee, where Hazel Hawethorne, your typical scean highschool lone wolf, seems to be prodded in the center of. But she's not alone. Zale Morbrough, the seventeen year old blonde ringleader of Riverside High's assorted "rejects," also seems to be pinpointed. Zale's noticed some changing with the nearing of the rare Blue Moon, sure, but doesn't think much of it until the night everything changes-for Hazel as well. There's something new about her that she doesn't-can't-admit. But she knows it won't be long... Something deep and dark is after Hazel, but it won't stop with killing her. It won't stop until North America(maybe even the world)is eraticated from existance. North America's modern little world is about to be wracked by every mythical beast our world has ever known and more. And it just may be the end of ours, and a start of theirs, unless a certian glitchy skinwalker and reluctant werewolf can find the strength and courage to defeat them-or the desire to. It's your destiny, Reader, to discover the truth of what you thought you knew about the place you call home...

I was standing in the middle of the fire, whispering to the fire that always answered. Letting it grow and dance the way it wanted to. It was weird to have all of this fire around you and not have it burn or touch your fragile skin. With each match and whisper the fire grew, but yells found my ears. My name was screamed into the smoke. No, there couldn't be anyone here? I thought I was alone. I am always alone. This is Hazel, she is a normal girl who has a normal life. She doesn't fit in, anywhere, and her parents have forgotten she was there. Typical teenage world. Until the day she finds out about her ex. His shirt and his blood are found, and something abnormal starts to form. She goes out and tries to figure out whats happening. Will she find that another group of species, thought to be fantasy, exist?
