On the notion of "brotherly responsibilities," Sherlock decides to embarrass his dear brother Mycroft on his first date with Scotland Yard's finest, Greg Lestrade. While snooping through Greg's phone one day, he discovered the Detective Inspector's seemingly endless conversations with his brother, along with the location of their first informal get-together. And Sherlock just couldn't resist.
Mycroft may have not seen this coming, but he was no fool. Clearly more perceptive than Sherlock anticipated, he knew of his little brother's "secret" romance with a particular doctor, and also of his plans with a particular silver ring sitting in a velvet box somewhere at 221B Baker Street. And Mycroft knows exactly how to get back at him.
