Anything can happen. Elara is a fine example of that, a) being born the day a war began, b) losing her whole family to said war, c) almost dying multiple times from the war that rages on even as she nears her 18th birthday d) one of the people who became one of her most trusted allies betrays her and ends up being the reason all the people she cares about were killed e) he claims to love her, along with his cousin who is just as bad also liking her f) she gets shot by an arrow and hit her head, hard allowing her traitorous friend to grab her g) when she wakes up, she remembers nothing.
