This is a How to Train Your Dragon fanfic taking place after the first movie, and closer to the Netflix series which seems to be taking place before the second movie for... character reasons...
Hiccup and Toothless are out flying (as per usual), when something flashes into Hiccup's mind. That night he's plagued with a nightmare and wakes up feeling as if the shores of Berk were screaming at him to investigate. The moment he lands on the beach he finds a shipwreck and throughout all the wreckage he finds the boy from his nightmare, bleeding, and barely alive. Who is this boy? How did he get here? Why does he have such a deep connection with dragons? What secrets does he hide? And why in the Archipelago will no dragon allow the boy to ride them?
I know this concept is rather cliche from what I've read about Hiccup meeting a shipwrecked OC and falling in love with them and leaving Astrid as a friend but I hope that the other aspects of this story are unique enough. I could use some help with keeping the characters in character so I hope I can count on my readers to help me with it!

Hiccup and Toothless left Berk thinking no one cared. Being the neglected child of Berk (despite his family, and being the heir to the village), Hiccup decided he'd had enough. He took Toothless and his most treasured belongings and high-tailed it out of there. When he runs into his long-lost mother, life looks up for Hiccup. He's found a place where he belongs. Meanwhile, on Berk, the village assumed Hiccup was dead by a Night Fury's doing and left it at that. Astrid and her friends, however, didn't think such. The two sailed across stormy seas before landing on an island called Berk. This island is were the baby grew and found herself with mixed feelings for the dragon beast and for a certain boy, rather the Chiefs son. Its where Hiccup runaway from berk with Toothless fearing no one cares what he told them but before running away Astrid caught him and showed her the truth of the dragons. After that Astrid wants to go with him but Hiccup rejects her but they made a promise that he will tell her about his whereabouts. Its a story where Hiccup create a Kingdom with Dragons and Vikings where they live together in harmony. Let me tell you I took some points and tips from here and there in wattpad and Fanfiction stories of HTTYD Runaway and Runaways. GUYS ITS MY FIRST STORY I HOPE YOU WILL LIKE IT.
