Wednesday is a young girl who leaves summer camp to see her grandmother in Montana before she dies. Last Christmas she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Ever since  Wednesday arrived arrived in Montana with her mother, she had a desperate need to get out of the house. Now she sneaks outside to a great oak tree to write to her friends back in Oregon. 

Will her grandmother survive? Will she get caught sneaking out? How will young Wednesday's views of life change? Read to find out!
