Carter has had a rough life. She doesn't have many friends, or a social life at all really. It's just her and her mom, living it up in North Carolina, since they had moved away from Los Angles, California.

This is because her dad, disappeared one day while surfing in Cali.

Often, she wonders what life would be like if her dad hadn't disappeared so many years ago.

The ocean has left a tragic, emotional scar, implanted in her brain. Sometimes she wishes that she could disappear as well.

Well, things are about to change when her mom sends her off to stay with her grandparents all the way in California.

For the whole summer.

She plans on staying inside, or maybe doing some shopping, avoiding the beach at all costs.

That doesn't last long when she meets him.

Noah Turner. A total jerk with no - so Carter thinks - heart. He has a passion for surfing, something that Carter used to enjoy, but now trembles at the thought.

His love for the waves, her hatred of the ocean will combine to be one heck of an adventurous summer.
