Hami Hinata is shy and not very confident in herself, due to trouble with her family in the past. Her two best friends are Chiaki Nanami and Mikan Tsumiki, and technically her only friends. During the middle of the school year, a few days before the school festival, a new student transfers into her class. The student's name is Nagisa Komaeda. The two become friends almost instantly, and Komaeda is one the first people to ever call Hinata, "Pretty" and "Beautiful".
