12 year old Morgan Bergo has spent her entire life thinking she is worthless; thinking she is a waste of space. She suffers from Chronic Depression.
When her brother is killed, she attempts to end her life by flinging herself off the highest thing she can find: in this case, the window of her room. She fails, but this near-death experience forces her brain to shut her down, sending Morgan spiraling into the darkness inside herself..
She wakes up in a world of demons, elves, talking cats, giant dogs, and fairies; but also a world of destruction. A warlord who everyone is afraid to name has taken over the realm: Elgeroth, as the locals call it. And the word is, he's on the hunt for anyone who could take him to the Outer World: anyone who acts strange, anyone who doesn't know their way around the realm; someone like Morgan. In trying to get away from this fearsome villain, Morgan only draws herself closer to him, eventually being captured by him, and meeting another from the Outerworld...

Ana is smart, good-hearted, and stylish. They form an unbreakable bond. Partners for life. The dragons of Marak can equip to their partners as weapons. But Cee is more than just an object to Ana. He's a friend. As she spends time with him, she grows. But there are secrets in Marak. Not everyone sees dragons as friends. Ana's naive.
