Every summer, the Mellark's and Reid's go down to their shared beach house, and while that may sound like a summer full of fun and relaxation, Kendall refers to it as the opposite. It's a house full of relatives who are either too old to hang out with, too young, or too boyish. She dreads having to spend two months away from home and her friends.
However, when her cousin Jesse brings his friend, Asher, down to Florida with him, Kendall is in for a rude awakening. He's hot, seductive, unpredictable, and determined to show her that her summer doesn't need to be boring.
Kendall does not want a summer fling, though. She is not prepared to deal with a broken heart right before her senior year. Asher seems just too irresistible, though, and despite Kendall trying to push him away, he is not ready to give up without a fight. Kendall is left asking herself whether to listen to her head or her heart-- and they're telling her two different things. She is used to playing it safe, but would it really be that bad if she started taking risks in life?
