Michelle "Ella" Conrad was what some would call an oddball. A menace to organized people everywhere, her hand doodled on every surface possible as if it had a mind of it's own, and her hair puffed out in unruly corkscrew curls she refused to tame.

Larger than life in hair, body, and spirit, Ella wanted nothing more than to come out of her shell and lead a life of kindness and expression.

Struggling to find her voice, she instead chooses a more discreet approach, starting with the boy across the aisle between the desks in her Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

Small drawings with kind messages begin to appear on Remus Lupin's desk, his downcast eyes softening at the sketches of turtles and kittens and silly characters. Always signed with a dancing letter L. Though it's obviously the Hufflepuff girl with the big hair that draws on every surface imaginable, he doesn't say anything in fear of scaring her away.

Thus bringing along the beginning of something much larger than life.

18 parts Ongoing
The beginning of a new era at Hogwarts: the first year of the Marauders. When James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew arrive at Hogwarts, none of them are prepared for what awaits them in their first year. For each of them, this new beginning is much more than just learning magic; it is the start of a journey that will change their lives forever. For James Potter, arriving at Hogwarts is everything he's ever dreamed of: the chance to stand out and show off his talent. But he will soon discover that true greatness is not measured solely by magical skills, but by the strength of the friendships he is about to form. Sirius Black, born into a dark and traditional family, faces the unexpected challenge of being sorted into Gryffindor, a house that represents everything his family despises. For the first time, Sirius has the chance to step out from the shadow of his surname and carve his own path, far from what it means to be a Black. For Remus Lupin, studying at Hogwarts seemed impossible. Marked by a dark secret, he never imagined that Dumbledore himself would give him his letter of acceptance to Hogwarts. Now, amidst classes and spells, he must deal with the burden of keeping his true nature hidden, fearing that if it's discovered, he will lose the chance to be a normal wizarding child. Peter Pettigrew, more insecure and less confident than the others, gets into trouble from day one, forcing him to desperately seek a place where he belongs. Although his first impressions may not be the best, Peter is determined to prove his bravery and find a group that will accept him and help him reach his true potential. With unexpected challenges, dark secrets, and newly-formed friendships, the first year at Hogwarts will mark the beginning of a brotherhood that will face trials they could never have imagined. This is only the start of the Marauders' adventures, where the magic of friendship will be tested time and time again.

"No," he called back to her. "Please, Sirius!" He turned around, his eyebrows furrowed together. "Please?" he said. "Sirius? What's the matter with you today?" She looked down, avoiding his eyes. "Curse me!" he continued, edging closer to her. "Hex me! Go on, yell at me! Get your book back! You never let me push you around!" She stayed silent, her nose tingling and eyes becoming misty. "Talk to me," he said. She jumped, not realizing just how close he had gotten to her. She could feel his breath on her face, his body smelled clean, like soap. He placed his hand under her chin and lifted her head so she had to look at him. "Ditch class with me."
