Past Lives

The year is 2018. The United States of America is alive and well, bustling with people and making new innovations as usual. There's only one thing that's changed... it's inhabited by both ghosts and humans. The spirits showed up in the year 2017, and nobody knew why. They were any people who had died from 1917 to 2017 that made their way through the 'human gates' (which opened to New York City) before 2018, leaving any other spirits behind in the ghost world forever. The ghosts were relatives, friends, lovers- you name it- yet they didn't make efforts to reconnect with their past, in fact, interacting with humans is absolutely taboo, and there are strict laws to keep ghosts and humans apart.

Then, that all changed.
