Trinity Stein was the two things D.W.M.A students would despise being: a half-witch and a teacher's child - though Franken Stein doesn't know it yet. She was the result of a drunken and reckless one night stand, which took a toll on her self-esteem.

When her mother was killed for her soul, Trinity was forced to take her life into her own hands. For a little while, she wandered aimlessly; then she turned to her childhood friend, Sora, a battle axe looking for a meister. Trinity graciously accepted his offer to be partners when the two's wavelengths matched and they began the life of weapon and meister, Trinity hoping to clean up her name by making Sora Lord Death's first Death Axe.

While traveling about, Trinity and Sora find themselves in Death City and Trinity decides to find her father and confront him, but upon arriving at D.W.M.A she manages to become enrolled and not only finds her father, but also finds Soul Evans, a respectable slacker and cool guy that ends up stealing her heart.
