Micah considers their life to be pretty bland. They've lived in the same tiny desert town in the middle of New Mexico in the same worn out house for their entire life. They know everyone, and everyone knows them. There are never any surprises in their daily routine. Life just goes on.

Miss Guerra sunbathes and watches soap operas in Spanish.

Micah's mother runs the shop that takes up nearly the entire first floor of their home.

Caleb Lipton plays basketball in his swimming pool, and Catherine Lipton reads gossip magazines.

Micah is so used to things being the way they are, they don't think it's even possible for anything to change at this point.

Until they do. A new family moves into town with a boy Micah's age, Micah's mother gets engaged, and Micah suddenly finds that the stability of their boring life was the best thing that ever happened to them.

Can a kid so accustomed to living the same day over and over again adjust to their whole world turning on its head?
